I was first introduced to Raquel’s music through my friend Matt from Brother Stone & The Get Down and his vocally gifted colleague Stan Taylor. They had this cover of “How Deep is Your Love” that went viral and I was listening to it on Spotify and the algorithm went to Raquels music. Yes this album review is 4 years late and no idgaf because the music is still good. That’s the thing about good music, it doesn’t matter when you make it, it will always be new to somebody somewhere. The entire project is amazing, front to back no skips like an 8track. the production is phenomenal and her vocal performances are truly special. Imagine if Selena made an album written and produced by Rick James and Teena Marie it would sound and feel like this. I like the entire record, but I absolutely love “You.” I recently listened to that record while on shrooms and I just envisioned this beautiful love story. Like take the love story from A Bronx Tale except make the soundtrack 1000 times better.
I’ve wanted to get her on a show since back in the day so I’m definitely looking forward to working with her in this current timeline. Her music was dope then, but her music now is at an entirely new level. So Raquel if you happen to read this let’s connect and do some cool shit. You are dope as fk and I want to help. Yall make sure yall follower her on social media and support her music however you can. Peace.
