When we started SoulfulofNoise in 2017 we hosted the first few shows at an Irish Bar called Molly Malones. Even at the beginning there was a lot of magic on those early lineups. It was our second show in March of 2017 and we booked an artist named Joe Leone for the lineup. He was an emerging singer-songwriter that blessed us tremendously by bringing with him a young woman with a voice that could lead a revolution. That young woman was India Carney and I want to take this opportunity to apologize to her.
I had booked one to many artists on the lineup (I did that a lot back then) and end up cutting Joe’s set short while he was on stage. Yeah, I fk’d up big time, and I never heard from either one of them again. Years later I saw a video of India singing on youtube with like 3 million views on it and I was like damn I wonder if she would do a show with us. My wife then reminded me of how much of an a$$hole I was and said stop being delusional so I gave up on that dream.
Today, the gods of the youtube algorithm put India Carney’s greatness right in front of my face. Its been 7 years and 310 shows later, so I’ve learned a lot about the plight of artists and I am much more sensitive to the needs of the creatives that make the soundtracks of our lives. I pray that there is room for a reunion because India is one of the best singers on the planet. Dear India, I now humbly approach you publicly to atone for my sins. Please accept my apology and forgive my ignorance. We have both dedicated our lives to helping others heal and I am proud of the wonderful impact that you have had on so many. Let’s do a fkn show together or at least have some ramen next time you are in LA.
