I had the wonderful privilege of going to college with Ms. Keri Lee, shout out to the University of Memphis. Back then I didn’t even know she could sing. I just knew she had skin like she bathed in virgin goat milk and that she had a beautiful divine spirit. Fast forward over a decade later and she’s touring the world as a professional background singer (John Legend and more) and has now begun the journey to establish herself as a solo artist. Her first release is a beautiful single named “Embody” produced by Anthony Filmore aka Tone Deaf featuring the legendary Mononeon on bass. This record fkn SCHLAPSSSSSS! It has an amazing sonic quality to it that feels like a fish fry at Gma’s house when you get to dip off with your cousins and smoke some weed. Sometimes less is more, the production is maybe 3 or 4 instruments tops, a simple drum break with a beautiful bass line and Keri’s vocals sitting on top like melted honey butter on a thick a** country biscuit. I am genuinely excited to see Keri’s career develop. She has all of the makings of a star, the looks, the passion, the talent, the voice, the records, the support, and most importantly, the work ethic. Since Keri is my friend in real life, we will definitely have her on some shows sometime soon (She said April!!!!). Her live show is incredible, not only is she a world class performer but she is also an anointed healer that incorporates sound bowls into her performances. You will leave her show feeling better than you arrived guaranteed. So mark your calendars for the first week in April.
